Lawn Maintenance

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our weekly lawn service includes cutting of turf area, weed wacking,& blowing off walks and driveways . All lawns are cut to 2 to 3 inch height with blades that are sharpened daily. We use professional 48 ,54,or 60 inch cutting deck machines (although some of our smaller lawns or lawns with fences necessitate the use of our 36 inch machines) which provide a level cut and even lines.

Cutting the lawn regularly will also help to control weeds by cutting annual weeds stems before they can go to seed and by restraining the vigor of perennial weeds. If you let the grass get too long between cuttings,it will also be more difficult to cut,and may turn brown in some areas when it is cut because the part of the blade which has been shaded will now be exposed to the sun. Cutting tall grass will also leave heavy piles of grass which can kill the lawn. The general rule of thumb is to never cut off more than 1/3 of the blades length.Cutting too short, on the other hand, can keep grass from establishing a good root system, since generally the roots only grow as deep as the blades are tall.

It is not necessary to remove the clippings unless the grass is very high when it is cut. Letting them decompose on the lawn will return nutrients to the soil,as well as providing protective thatch.
